Five Health Problems Related to Energy Drinks



Concerns about the dangers of energy drinks, especially if combined with alcohol, has increased in recent years.Here are 5 health problems associated with the beverage is claimed to improve stamina.
 1. Heart problemsIn 2007, 28-year-old Australian man suffered a heart attack after drinking eight cans of energy drink that contains 80 mg of caffeine in a period of 7 hours.Caffeine and other ingredients in energy drinks are known to increase blood pressure and heart rate. Caffeine itself can cause heart cells to release calcium, which will take effect on heart rate and ultimately cause heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias).Consumption of energy drinks also damage the normal balance salt levels in the body. This condition will also trigger arrhythmias. Even so, can not yet be concluded whether this beverage trigger heart problems.

 2. The risk of miscarriageResearch on the effects of caffeine on miscarriage was not yet complete. A 2006 study of more than 1,000 pregnant women showed that those who drank caffeine to 200 mg per day (from coffee, tea, soda, or hot chocolate) at high risk of having a miscarriage. However, another study in 2008 found no link between these two things.Because the results can not be concluded, gynecology physicians in the US bond advise pregnant women limit caffeine intake of no more than 200 mg per day.

3. Alcohol DependenceMixing energy drinks and alcohol can be very dangerous effect. Although caffeine is a stimulant, but these substances are not "neutralize" the calming effect of alcohol. Drinking alcohol mixed with energy drinks feared would make people awake longer so they drink more alcohol.

4. The use of drugsThe study of 1,600 college students found that energy drinks will increase the risks of using prescription medications, such as anti-pain drugs or stimulants.

 5. Cognitive DisordersSmall-scale studies in 2010 showed that drinking caffeine in moderate scale, about 40 mg, can improve reaction time and performance test. But drinking higher amounts, about 250 mg or 80 mg, in fact worsen performance and reaction time.
